周丹泉字时山民苏州人，明隆庆、万历间制瓷名匠。周氏善仿古器，所制定鼎、文王鼎等器，足以乱真;所制隐印、文式、避邪、龜象、瓦钮、连环、其成色概如白定。周氏所办的窑厂，被称为“周窑”。擅长仿古瓷，尤为逼真。据说他的作品刚造出，四方就前来竟购，甚至不惜千金争市。《景德镇陶录》记载：“能烧陶印、文式、辟邪、龟象、连环、瓦纽，皆用火范，而成色如白定，其文亦古。”

　　Zhou Danquan (Shi Dao being his assumed name): A native of Shuzhou and a famous ceramist during the reign of Longqing and Wanli of Ming Dynasty. He was good at imitating ancient porcelains. His imitative vessels looked exactly the same as the real ones, his ceramic stamp, wenshi, anti-evil wares, tile wares and chains were pure in their colors. His kiln was called "Zhou Kiln”.
